It’s time for our newest #AgentSpotlight – meet V.F. McNeil Insurance, who have been in business for over 130 years!
V.F. McNeil was founded in 1886 by Virgil McNeil who — after spending some time out West in the farming industry — realized his passion for insurance and moved back to the East Coast to start his own agency. Over the years, he went on to acquire multiple agencies and expand the business from simply offering basic fire policies to serving the business and personal insurance needs of busy families, individuals, and business owners in Connecticut. Since its founding, V.F. McNeil remained a generational business until 2012. Today, V.F. McNeil is still committed to offering quality insurance products, competitive pricing, and unmatched customer service and has upheld the motto “treat others the way they want to be treated.”
Reaching over 130 years of business is no easy feat no matter the industry. V.F. McNeil’s commitment to putting customers first has played a key role in their success over the years. In addition to this, the company credits their amazing group of employees who consistently support one another and who are always willing to help when needed. Priding themselves on their open lines of communication and their eagerness to continue learning, V.F. McNeil employees have helped to grow the business over the years while still maintaining a family feel —striving to make clients “feel like they’re our only client.”
One main thing that sets V.F. McNeil apart from other independent insurance agents is their dedication to advanced knowledge on cybercrimes and cyber liability coverage. Current president and owner, Daniel McNamara, CIC, takes pride in the fact that they realize how common and devastating cyber attacks can be on a business and strive to stay on the leading edge of cyber coverage. The agency has brought in individualized training for their staff and is committed to advance knowledge to better serve their clients.
Outside of the office, V.F. McNeil is very involved in the community of Branford, Connecticut and other surrounding towns. One organization they’ve been committed to over the years is Brian’s Hope, a foundation named in honor of Brian Kelly who was a Branford local suffering from Adrenoleukodystrophy (ALD). The support of V.F. McNeil has helped them make monumental changes when it comes to research and detection for ALD. In addition to their support of Brian’s Hope, V.F. McNeil stays active in the community supporting local events, organizations, the local school system through sports and an academic scholarship, and programs such as Secret Santa through the Branford Counseling Center.
