Founded in 1969 by Richard S. Ormsby in East Longmeadow, MA, Ormsby Insurance was primarily a life and health services company providing group health, life, and disability plans for numerous businesses throughout Western Massachusetts and Northern Connecticut. In 1983, the agency and its three employees moved to West Springfield. Since then, there have been three more moves and expansions leading up to their present location at 698 Westfield Street. This move to 698 Westfield Street coincided with the transfer of the agency ownership to John P. Weiss, son-in-law of the founder, Richard S. Ormsby.
Customer service is a top priority for Ormsby Insurance, operating under the values of accountability, respect, trust, integrity, and commitment. Their outstanding customer service culture has helped them earn a Five Star Designation with MAIA, an award given to independent agents who continue to go above and beyond, providing superior customer service to their clients. Serving the community in which Ormsby Insurance employees live and work is a commitment the entire agency has made. Ormsby Insurance President, John Weiss, is an active member of The Springfield Regional Chamber of Commerce, the West of the River Chamber of Commerce, and the Agawam Rotary. He is also a Docent for the Springfield Quadrangle Museums and sits on the Board of Directors for the West Springfield Boys & Girls Club. As a whole, Ormsby Insurance participates annually in the Yuletree Jubilee, which raises money for the arts in West Springfield. They also support the local Credit for Life, an organization dedicated to improving the financial literacy of high school seniors residing in Western Massachusetts. In addition to these efforts, Ormsby Insurance is dedicated to supporting various local organizations as needed.
